You are going to love this Cottage Pie with browned ground beef and cooked vegetables in a rich gravy topped with smooth and creamy cheddar mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 medium yellow onion chopped
2 medium carrots peeled and chopped
2 ribs celery chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
2 cups beef broth low sodium
¼ cup red wine optional
2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
2 bay leaves
¾ cup frozen peas
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Topping
2 lbs Yukon Gold or russet potatoes peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes
3 tablespoons butter
½ cup warm milk
¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Chopped fresh thyme
